Two new connections to Romania
With Dan Air to Dracula Castle and the capital city
The route network of Albrecht Dürer Airport Nuremberg to Eastern Europe has been continuously expanded in recent years. With Brașov, another destination has now been added to the flight schedule. Dan Air is a new airline at Nuremberg Airport and will fly to the Romanian city in the Transylvania region twice a week. In addition, the destination Bucharest, which is already in the flight schedule, will be increased by two more connections to a total of four flights per week.
In addition to official twin cities, the city of Nuremberg has friendly relations with other cities and municipalities - one of them is Brașov in Romania. In July 2006, a declaration of intent was signed for cooperation and intensification of relations between the two cities.
Brașov, surrounded by the forested mountains of the Carpathians, is located in the heart of Romania and offers traditional charm as well as modern city life. In the middle of the old town wall you can find the market square with its splendid Gothic and Baroque buildings. From here, excursions to the church castle of Prejmer and the Dracula Castle in Bran are possible.
The Romanian airline Dan Air expands Nuremberg Airport's Eastern European services. In Romania alone, five destinations can now be reached non-stop. "This great news is not only for the large Romanian community in the metropolitan region, but also for holidaymakers and business travellers," explains Nuremberg Airport's Managing Director Dr. Michael Hupe. In addition to the extensive Romanian population in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region, the Franconian automotive and mechanical engineering supplier Schaeffler, for example, has a large production site in the Brașov region.
Councillor Werner Henning was present at Nuremberg Airport because of the inaugural flight. "As a link between Nuremberg and the associated municipality of Brașov, I am delighted about the direct connection to the newly completed airport," said Henning.
Matt Ian David, CEO of Dan Air and a pilot himself, was on board for the inaugural flight.
