Barrier free arrival and parking
- Get in your car or out of your car in front of the terminal (street level). If you are staying in this area for longer than the free parking time of 8 minutes, please scan the QR code at the disabled parking spaces. By depositing your disabled badge, you can park in this area free of charge.
- Cab stand in front of the terminal
- Subway (wheelchair accessible elevator) and bus directly in front of the terminal
Blue call pillar
In front of Departure Hall 2 you will find the blue call pillar, which you can use to contact the PRM Service staff if necessary.
Barrier-free parking at the airport
Travellers with reduced mobility receive a 50% discount on the regular barrier rates in car parks P2 and P3. The 50% discount cannot be applied to online bookings. Please come to the service desk in the arrivals hall to pay your parking fee on your return.
You will receive a discount on the parking fee on presentation of a disabled person's ID with at least one of the following characteristics:
- Exceptional walking disability (ID card endorsement: ‘aG’)
- Vehicle driver as accompanying person for the blind (ID card notation ‘Bl’)
- Helpless persons (ID card notation ‘H’)
You will find extra-wide disabled parking spaces on parking level 0 in car parks P2 and P3. Please place the blue parking permit clearly visible behind the windscreen.
Persons with a slight walking disability (badge notation: ‘G’) are not legally entitled to an extra-wide and discounted ‘disabled parking space’.
The entrance height to our car parks is 2.10 metres. For larger vehicles (longer than 5 metres) or vehicles with excess height, please contact our parking service by telephone or email.
Wheel chairs
When carrying medical equipment and electric wheelchairs, dangerous goods regulations must be observed. For this reason, you must register your own wheelchairs with the airline, stating their dimensions (height, width and weight).
As a rule, you can use your own wheelchair up to the aircraft door. In the case of heavy and/or motorized wheelchairs, it may be necessary to check them in with the bulky baggage so that the wheelchair can be loaded safely. In this case, Albrecht Dürer Airport Nuremberg will provide a wheelchair for transport. It generally facilitates handling and loading if your own wheelchair is already checked in at the bulky baggage and a wheelchair from the service provider is used for airport transport.
Your airline requires the following information about your wheelchair
- Make / Model
- Weight
- Dimensions (length x width x height)
- Type of battery (the battery must have successfully passed test 38.3 of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, verification with the manufacturer)
- Power in watt-hours (max. 300 watt-hours for one installed battery, max. 160 watt-hours each for two installed batteries)
If, due to the design, it is intended that the battery can be removed from a battery-powered wheelchair, the battery must be removed. The removed battery must be secured and disconnected by you at check-in, and the terminals must be insulated. Special packaging criteria apply to wet battery wheelchairs for safety reasons. Please check with your airline in advance.
Medical baggage
Medical baggage (respirators, inhalers, walking aids, etc.) as defined in Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2006 is generally transported free of charge, i.e. without being charged against the free baggage allowance. Please note, however, that airlines require relevant information in advance for safety reasons and medical baggage must therefore be registered with the airline; a medical certificate of fitness for flight may be required.
Medication may also be carried free of charge with a doctor's prescription. Medical baggage may only contain medical supplies or medication and is limited to one piece of baggage per passenger (maximum weight 23 kg). Otherwise, the usual baggage rules come into force.
Companion dogs
Dogs are welcome in the terminals, but must be kept on a leash. If your dog is accompanying you on your trip, please check with your airline in advance for valid boarding policies. These may vary from airline to airline. However, airlines may not refuse to allow you to take your dog with you. You are obliged to carry your assistance dog free of charge.
