New:

With Air Serbia now also non-stop to Belgrade

Albrecht Dürer Airport Nürnberg is consistently continuing the expansion of its route network to Eastern Europe: With Air Serbia, another customer is returning to the airport in the metropolitan region after the pandemic-related interruption and will be flying regularly from Nürnberg to the Serbian capital Belgrade from 6 June.

For the first time, travellers from the Franconian region will have the option of direct flights to the Serbian metropolis. In addition to lots of culture, such as the Beogradska Tvrđava fortress at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers or the largest Orthodox church in the Balkans, Belgrade also offers a trendy nightlife, for example on one of the party boats or in the old town.

With Belgrade, Nuremberg Airport complements its extensive range of services to Eastern Europe, which extends from the Baltic States to Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Northern Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. Dr Michael Hupe, Managing Director of the airport, says: "One focus of our route development is on connecting the Nuremberg metropolitan region with a wide range of important European destinations. With Belgrade, we have connections to 14 European capitals in the summer flight schedule and beyond to many important economic metropolises."

The large Serbian community in the metropolitan region will use the route for mutual visits by friends and relatives, and there are also economic links between the two regions. "For us as a globally positioned automotive supplier with headquarters in Nuremberg, an airport with attractive connections is an important location factor. In Serbia, for example, LEONI is now the largest private industrial employer. We warmly congratulate Nuremberg Airport and Air Serbia on the new non-stop service from Nuremberg to Belgrade," says Gregor le Claire, press spokesman for LEONI AG.

There are also good connecting flights via the Belgrade hub, for example to Athens, Thessaloniki, Istanbul and Skopje.

Air Serbia has been a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since 1961 and is part of the Etihad Group. The fleet consists of around 20 modern short- and medium-haul aircraft and one wide-body jet. The airline had already connected Nuremberg Airport with Niš in previous years.
