Highlights

Diocletian's Palace is undoubtedly the most famous highlight of Split. This well-preserved Roman palace from the 4th century is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a unique blend of Roman architecture and medieval elements. 

The waterfront promenade, also known as the "Riva", is another highlight of Split. Visitors can stroll along it, relax in one of the outdoor cafés or enjoy the atmosphere of the city.

The Cathedral of St Domnius is an impressive church within Diocletian's Palace. With its striking dome and adjoining bell tower, it is not only an architectural masterpiece, but also of historical and religious significance for the city.

Split is also known for its beautiful beaches. The most famous of these, such as Bacvice Beach and Znjan Beach, offer fine sand, crystal clear water and numerous beach bars where you can relax and enjoy the sun.

For art lovers, the Mestrovic Gallery is an absolute highlight. This art gallery houses works by Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic and offers a unique collection of sculptures, paintings and drawings.

Split is also a gateway to the stunning Croatian islands. Ferries make it easy to take trips to the surrounding islands such as Hvar, Brac and Vis. Here visitors can explore crystal clear waters, tranquil bays and charming coastal towns.

The vibrant local cuisine is another highlight of Split. The city is famous for its fresh seafood, olive oil, wine and traditional Dalmatian ham. In the many restaurants and pubs you can sample delicious Croatian cuisine and enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere.
