2025 Annual Results
Record Passenger Numbers and High Capacity Utilisation
Albrecht Dürer Airport Nuremberg can look back on the most successful year in its history: in 2025, a total of 4,508,765 passengers used the airport for holiday, city and business trips, as well as visits to friends and relatives. This represents a substantial 11.9 per cent increase in passenger numbers compared to the previous year and significantly exceeds the previous record set in 2018.
‘This new record is a strong indication of the demand for mobility across the entire metropolitan region,’ says airport managing director Dr Michael Hupe. ‘Never before have so many people used Nuremberg Airport to fly on holiday, embark on business trips or visit friends and relatives. This impressively demonstrates how attractive it is for private and business travellers to take off from our airport in a relaxed manner.’
Aircraft utilisation also continues to develop positively. As in the previous year, average seat load factors remained at a high level of 83% for the year as a whole, driven by stable demand and an increasingly optimised flight schedule. This means that the additional capacity was easily absorbed by the market.
Strong growth in scheduled and tourist traffic
In 2025, scheduled traffic (including low-cost flights) totalled 2.812 million passengers, an increase of 10.8 per cent over the previous year. Tourist traffic grew strongly once again, with 1.631 million passengers, representing an increase of 13.2 per cent. The most popular countries of destination continue to be Turkey, Spain and Greece, with Antalya and Mallorca at the top of the list.
There was also growth in the number of flight movements in 2025: 52,918 take-offs and landings were recorded at Nuremberg Airport, an increase of 8.8 per cent compared to the previous year.
Ryanair, Wizz Air, Marabu Airlines, Corendon Airlines, SunExpress, Eurowings/Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and Air France/KLM were among the airlines with the highest volume at Nuremberg Airport.
In the cargo sector, a total of 4,686 tonnes of air freight, including transit, was handled. This represents a slight decrease in volume compared to the previous year (-2.4 per cent), but remains at a stable level and reflects the robust demand in the express and logistics segment.
Increasingly modern and quieter aircraft in service
The trend towards more environmentally friendly, particularly quiet and efficient aircraft continued in 2025. Their share of commercial flight movements rose again to around 30 per cent, contributing to increasingly sustainable operations.
