Non-stop for the first time
Nuremberg–Rabat: Ryanair launches new direct route to Morocco
On Friday 3 April, a Ryanair flight will take off from Nuremberg to the Moroccan capital Rabat for the first time. This provides the metropolitan region with an attractive connection to one of the most historic yet modern cities in North Africa. Flights to Rabat will operate every Monday and Friday.
The metropolis on the Atlantic coast is one of Morocco’s four imperial cities and impresses with its blend of tradition and modernity. Magnificent white buildings, palm-lined boulevards and centuries-old kasbahs (fortresses) characterise the cityscape. The authentic old town in particular, with its winding alleys and bustling souk markets, offers travellers an authentic experience. Furthermore, thanks to seaside resorts in the immediate vicinity, Rabat is ideal for relaxing days on the beach and a combined cultural and beach holiday.
Morocco is returning to Nuremberg’s flight schedule after a lengthy hiatus. Regular flights to Marrakech were offered until early 2020. Agadir, situated on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, was last served by regular flights over ten years ago.
Airport Managing Director Dr Michael Hupe said: “Together with Ryanair, we are expanding our offering to include a fascinating destination that perfectly complements our route network. Rabat combines cultural depth with a modern lifestyle: an exciting combination that many of our passengers will be discovering for the first time.”
“With the new Rabat route, we are specifically expanding our offering and responding to the potential in Nuremberg. However, the German market remains at 89 per cent of pre-crisis levels, and exorbitant government-imposed location costs continue to hamper further investment,” says Marcel Pouchain Meyer, Country Manager & Head of Communications DACH.
Ryanair is flying to 21 destinations from Nuremberg this summer, with a focus on Spain, Italy and Greece.
