With Marabu Airlines, another airline at Albrecht Dürer Airport Nuremberg is now using the self baggage drop-off system for independent baggage check-in. Passengers can drop off their checked baggage quickly and independently of traditional counter opening hours, provided that check-in has already been completed online.
The automated system is centrally located in Departure Hall 2 and guides travelers through the process step by step: after scanning the boarding pass, the baggage tag is created, the baggage is weighed, and then placed directly onto the conveyor belt. This makes processes more efficient, significantly reduces waiting times—especially during peak holiday periods—and ensures a more relaxed start to the journey.
With Marabu Airlines, even more holidaymakers can now benefit from this service. The airline connects Nuremberg Airport with numerous popular holiday destinations, including Greece, Mallorca, the Canary Islands, Madeira, Olbia in Sardinia, and Egypt.
The self baggage drop-off system has been in use at Nuremberg Airport since 2022 and is increasingly being adopted by more airlines such as KLM, Air France, Wizz Air, and Freebird Airlines. It is an important building block for further automating airport processes and continuously improving passenger comfort.
