First anniversary: British Airways’ route from Nuremberg to London Heathrow

The British Airways inaugural flight from Nuremberg to London Heathrow was celebrated on March 27 2022. One year later, the route continues to be popular. More and more travellers use the route for connecting flights to the USA.

"The British Airways connection to the London Heathrow hub was a long-awaited wish of passengers and companies from our metropolitan region," says Dr Michael Hupe, Managing Director of Nuremberg Airport. "The service not only brings business travellers, students and tourists to London, but also to many destinations worldwide via the hub.” In addition to domestic transfer connections to Edinburgh, Manchester or Glasgow, New York is at the top of the list of transfer destinations. It is followed by Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, Miami and Boston.

The route is also performing well in the opposite direction, as the recently published annual report of the Nuremberg Tourism Board (CTZ) shows. In 2022, the US remains Nuremberg's most important foreign market with over 120,000 overnight stays.

All three major aviation alliances are represented in Nuremberg for the first time since British Airways added this route to its network, including Star Alliance, SkyTeam and oneworld. The number of all hub connections from Nuremberg has increased to seven at present.
