Inaugural flight to Manchester
easyJet launches four new routes at Nuremberg Airport
Albrecht Dürer Airport Nuremberg is welcoming easyJet as a new airline partner. The first easyJet flight from Manchester landed in Nuremberg today. On arrival, the aircraft was greeted with a traditional water salute.
With direct connections to London Gatwick, London Luton, Milan Malpensa and Manchester now available, easyJet is significantly expanding the range of flights from Nuremberg and strengthening international access to the metropolitan region. The routes will operate two to four times a week during the Christkindlesmarkt season and throughout spring. Flights to and from Manchester will operate on Mondays and Fridays. The flight time to Manchester is around two hours.
'The new service to Manchester sends a strong signal regarding the appeal of our location and creates additional travel opportunities for people in the metropolitan region, as well as for visitors from the UK,' said Dr Michael Hupe, Managing Director of Nuremberg Airport. 'We are delighted to have secured easyJet as a new partner for the winter schedule. Tourism, business, trade fairs and international exchange will all benefit.'
Stephan Erler, easyJet’s Country Manager for Germany, said: 'With Nuremberg, we are adding an economically strong and attractive tourist destination to our German route network. Nuremberg is particularly appealing to us during the winter season, thanks to international demand driven by the Christmas market and NürnbergMesse.’
Lord Mayor Marcus König said: ‘Nuremberg has gained a strong new partner in easyJet. The new services to Manchester, London and Milan will bring visitors to our city and make it easier for people in the region to travel the world.”
Dr Thomas Koch, Managing Director of the European Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg, also welcomed the airline’s arrival, saying: “The new service to Manchester and the additional routes to London and Milan will strengthen the international connections of our metropolitan region. As a ‘home for creatives’ and a region known for its many innovations, effective connections with other major economic centres in Europe are especially important for us.”
By partnering with easyJet, Nuremberg Airport is gaining one of Europe’s leading point-to-point airlines and continuing to expand its international route network.
The other easyJet services will launch on 19 November to London Gatwick, on 23 November to London Luton, and on 27 November to Milan Malpensa.
