Highlights

Bologna's cityscape is characterised by the Piazza Maggiore, the cultural centre. The many historic palaces and the Basilica of San Petronio create a breathtaking atmosphere, and the many students in the city give quaint cafés and pubs a youthful flair.

The Emilia-Romagna region is also known as the "Motor Valley". Traditional names such as Lamborghini, Maserati, Ducati and Ferrari are based here - fitting for the automotive supply industry in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. A special attraction for sports car fans is the Ferrari Museum in Modena, which is only about 40 kilometres from Bologna.

Bologna can also enchant in culinary terms. Not only the world-famous pasta Bolognese has its origins in Bologna, but also the sausage Mortadella or the stuffed pasta Tortellini come from the Italian city. In the romantic alleyways you will find many authentic shops offering these regional delicacies.
