Stable demand over Pentecost
Around 283,000 passengers travel from Nuremberg to their holidays
Albrecht Dürer Airport Nuremberg expects a consistently high travel volume during the upcoming Pentecost holidays: a total of around 283,500 passengers are anticipated. This puts figures slightly above last year’s level and highlights the continued strong demand for flights from Nuremberg.
Approximately 1,840 take-offs and landings are scheduled during the holiday period. Destinations in the Mediterranean region as well as international hubs are particularly popular. Antalya remains by far the top destination with around 51,000 travellers, followed by Mallorca with more than 36,000 passengers. The Lufthansa hub in Frankfurt also plays a key role in international connectivity, with over 23,000 transfer passengers. Strong demand is also seen for Istanbul as a major Turkish Airlines hub and the Egyptian holiday destination Hurghada. In total, around 55 non-stop destinations are available, including numerous locations in Spain, Italy and Greece.
Among the strongest airlines during the Pentecost travel period are Ryanair, Corendon Airlines, SunExpress, Marabu Airlines and Wizz Air. They make a major contribution to ensuring that travellers from northern Bavaria can start their holidays conveniently and flexibly.
More comfort at security control
This year, passengers benefit from a fully modernised security checkpoint. Innovative CT scanners are now in use at Nuremberg Airport, significantly simplifying and speeding up the process. Liquids and electronic devices can remain in hand luggage, and previous restrictions have largely been eased. At the same time, optimised procedures at the security lanes ensure shorter waiting times and a smoother start to the journey. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport around two hours before departure.
Relax and enjoy in the new duty-free area
Passengers can also look forward to an expanded offering after security control: the newly redesigned shopping and dining area has significantly enlarged the duty-free space and added new food and beverage options. Alongside international brands, there is a strong focus on regional specialities. Seating areas, a beer garden concept and a wide range of culinary options invite travellers to relax and enjoy their time before boarding.
Managing Director Dr Michael Hupe: “With an attractive route network, state-of-the-art technology and a significantly enhanced range of amenities, Nuremberg Airport offers the ideal conditions for a relaxed start to the Pentecost holidays.”
