Ryanair opens new base at Nuremberg - two based aircraft, 29 routes

Ryanair's Marketing Director Dara Brady and Airport Managing Director Dr. Michael Hupe opened the base with around one hundred airport employees including Ryanair crews. 

Ryanair today (12th April) marked the opening of its new base at Nuremberg, with two based aircraft, representing an investment of $200m and 60 new direct jobs. This Summer Ryanair will also operate its biggest ever Nuremberg schedule including 29 total routes, of which 15 are exciting new Summer routes to the likes of Madeira, Corfu and Ibiza.

Worldwide connections: British Airways takes off for London Heathrow

For the inaugural British Airways flight from Nuremberg to London Heathrow, Airport Managing Director Dr Michael Hupe was able to welcome Bavarian Prime Minister Dr Markus Söder, Nuremberg's Lord Mayor Marcus König and British Airways’ Head of Sales for Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, Joerg Tuensmeyer.

Pristina added to the flight schedule

The National Library "Pjetër Bogdani", founded in 1944, is housed in an architecturally unique building.

With Pristina, a further destination in Southeast Europe is now reachable from Nuremberg. From 2 April, the Bulgarian airline GP Aviation will fly twice a week to the Kosovan capital with a Boeing 737-400. Fun fact: Some of the passengers will be flown to Kosovo and back by the owner and managing director, the Swiss Ganesh Piga, himself.

The new non-stop connection is especially interesting for the Kosovar community in the metropolitan region, who will use it for visiting each other's families, friends and relatives.

Lounge comfort for Turkish Airlines passengers

Turkish Airlines passengers with Miles&Smiles frequent flyer status ELIT or ELIT PLUS and ELIT Card as well as Star Alliance Gold Card holders and Business Class passengers of the airline can now enjoy the comfort of the new Dürer Lounge at Albrecht Dürer Airport Nürnberg for an even more relaxed start to their journey.

A milestone for the region’s international connections: British Airways connects Nuremberg and London Heathrow for the first time

The airline which has long been on the wish list of many passengers and companies from the Nuremberg metropolitan region will be taking off to London Heathrow, Europe’s largest hub, commencing at the end of March. 

This provides excellent opportunities to visit the British capital and for worldwide connecting flights via the hub of British Airways, including onward travel to and from the USA. Moreover, this is the first time that all three major airline alliances are represented in Nuremberg: Star Alliance, SkyTeam and now Oneworld (which includes British Airways).

New: With Air Serbia now also non-stop to Belgrade

Albrecht Dürer Airport Nürnberg is consistently continuing the expansion of its route network to Eastern Europe: With Air Serbia, another customer is returning to the airport in the metropolitan region after the pandemic-related interruption and will be flying regularly from Nürnberg to the Serbian capital Belgrade from 6 June.
