Surprising accolade from the industry for Nuremberg Airport

The jury of the international World Route Development Forum, World Routes, has awarded Albrecht Dürer Airport Nürnberg yet again with the World Routes Marketing Award – this time in competition with major airports of 4 to 20 million passengers. The award, which was presented in the southern Chinese port city of Guangzhou, is considered one of the highest distinctions awarded to airports and is much coveted by the industry. Managing Director Dr. Michael Hupe is delighted "about the industry’s renewed accolade".

Business Traveller Awards 2018

Once again, Albrecht Dürer Airport Nürnberg has been impressed regular business travellers with easy orientation, short walking distances and excellent service. These passengers voted Nuremberg as their favourite airport for Business Traveller magazine. This is the eleventh consecutive year in which Nuremberg Airport has won the Business Traveller Award in the Best Airport for Business Travellers in Germany. “It’s a great achievement and we are all very proud”, says Managing Director Dr. Michael Hupe.

A look back on a record-breaking year

Stable growth ahead

The employees and management of Albrecht Dürer Airport Nürnberg can look back on an extremely successful year: with record growth of 20 percent to 4.2 million passengers, Nuremberg Airport was Germany’s leading large passenger airport. No other German airport with more than 1 million passengers recorded such rapid growth in 2017 as Nuremberg. The past financial year also developed very pleasingly in economic terms: turnover exceeded €100 million for the first time. After a year of dynamism and growth, the focus in 2018 will be on consolidating the new routes.

All set for a record summer

Nuremberg Airport’s summer flight schedule offers business travellers and holidaymakers eight interesting new destinations. The schedule's highlights include Warsaw (LOT Polish Airlines), Dubai (Condor/FTI) and the extensive range of flights made possible by Eurowings’ establishment of a base in Nuremberg. The summer flight plan features more than 60 non-stop destinations, all of which are available for booking with immediate effect.

Eurowings opens its twelfth base in Nuremberg

As part of extending its presence to cover the whole of Germany and Austria, Eurowings is making Nuremberg Airport its twelfth base. Eurowings, which is currently Europe's fastest growing airline, will base one aircraft in Nuremberg from the end of March and serve the holiday destinations of Mallorca, Heraklion, Catania and Olbia.

A record year

Last year Nuremberg Airport set a new record for passenger numbers. With 700,000 additional passengers, the airport broke the 4 million mark for the first time since 2010. Until now it has only been possible to achieve this figure with transiting passengers.
