Airport Nürnberg finished the year 2011 with a slight minus of 2.6 percent in passenger numbers: 3.967 million passengers used the airport of the metropolitan region of Nuremberg for their business and holiday flights (previous year: 4.074 million). In 2012 Airport Nürnberg wants to score primarily with its broad range of tourist offers focusing on Turkey and Greece and with ist stable scheduled flights network.
Drops in passenger numbers are predominantly due to lower numbers in transit passengers using airberlin’s hub flights (-17 percent), whereas the number of passengers boarding in Nuremberg (originating traffic) continued to grow (+ 1.4 percent). In particular, scheduled flights showed a passenger increase of 2.2 percent in Nuremberg. Managing Director Karl-Heinz Krüger comments this as follows: ‚That’s a clear sign of how important the airport with its good connections is to the industry in the metropolitan region of Nuremberg.’
The summer flight plan 2012 includes an average of 110 weekly departures to roughly 60 destinations. Antalya is serviced 25 times a week, followed by the classic Mallorca shuttle with 17 connections per week servicing the Balearic island. 26 weekly departures are on offer to service 14 destinations in Greece. Lovers of Italy have a choice of 6 destinations. Holiday travellers starting in Nuremberg avail themselves of the broad range of offers provided by all important tour operators. More than 30 daily scheduled flights provide access to European hubs for flexible connections to the rest of the world.
