Corona Test Center

Travel returnees can now be tested for the coronavirus free of charge at Nuremberg Airport. Two Corona Test Centers have been installed.

Tests exclusively for arriving passengers

Tests are offered daily exclusively to arriving passengers. The opening hours depend on flight operations. All persons at the airport must comply with the Corona Rules of Conduct.


Compulsory test for travellers from risk areas

In addition to the voluntary test offer for travel returnees from non-risk areas, the Free State of Bavaria has implemented a  testing obligation for travel returnees from risk areas in accordance with the regulation of the federal government, from 8 August 2020. Passengers who land at Nuremberg Airport from a risk area (according to RKI) will be taken directly from the airplane to the Corona Test Center.

Voluntary test for travellers from non-risk areas

After arriving at Nuremberg Airport from a destination that is currently not defined as a risk area (according to RKI), passengers can voluntarily have themselves tested for the coronavirus at the airport.

Who can be tested at Nuremberg Airport?

It is only possible for arriving passengers to take a corona test at Nuremberg Airport. When entering from non-risk areas, the corona test is voluntary. For returnees from risk areas (according to RKI) a corona test is mandatory since August 8, 2020.


Where can I register for a voluntary Corona Test?

After you have picked up your luggage and left the airport terminal, you can reach the Corona Test Center between car park P3 and car park P5 (map) within a few minutes by foot. Please note that it is compulsory to wear a mouth and nose cover at the Test Center.

Procedure

  • Show your Boarding Pass to Nuremberg at the entrance.
  • You have the possibility to register online for the test (registration form).
  • The staff on site will check your registration or take your contact details.
  • The local staff will do the corona test (nose and throat swab).
  • You will receive confirmation that the test has been performed.

The test is free of charge and is generally possible up to 72 hours after your arrival at Nuremberg Airport.

You will receive your test result by coded e-mail.


How are compulsory tests for travellers from risk areas handled?

Since August 8th there is a test obligation for persons landing at Nuremberg Airport from a risk area (according to RKI).

Procedure

  • After leaving the aircraft, you will be taken by bus to the Corona Test Center (please wear a mouth and nose cover).
  • You have the option of registering for the test online (registration form).
  • The staff on site will check your online registration or take your contact details.
  • The local staff will do the corona test (nose and throat swab).
  • You will receive confirmation that the test has been performed.
  • You will be brought back to the terminal by bus.
  • You can now pick up your luggage

You will receive your test result by coded e-mail.

If you meet one of the following requirements, you do not need to be tested on arrival

  • You have a negative corona test in German or English, which meets the criteria of the RKI and is not older than 48 hours.
  • You were originally in an area that is not classified as a risk area (according to RKI) and have only travelled through the risk area as a transfer passenger.
  • You are in direct transit to a country other than Germany.

Do I have to go into quarantine until the test results are available?

Anyone who has been in a risk area within the last two weeks

  • must in principle be kept in quarantine for 14 days
  • and report to his local health department.

This applies until a negative test result is obtained, including the waiting period until the results of the compulsory test are available.

Can I do an antibody test at Nuremberg Airport?

At the Test Centers at Nuremberg Airport it is currently not possible to have a corona antibody test done.


Will I get a separate document to present to my employer?

After taking the sample, you will receive a confirmation that you have taken a corona test at Nuremberg Airport. The result of the laboratory test will be sent to you by coded e-mail. You can present this result if your employer asks for it.
