Yes. Currently (09.11.2020), the entry quarantine regulation only applies to risk areas outside Germany. You can therefore take your flight from Nuremberg, even if you are traveling to the airport from a domestic German risk area.

How long does the test take?

The actual test, the throat swab, takes only a few seconds. However, registration is necessary in advance so that your data is recorded for the transmission of the test result. Depending on the traffic at the registration desks as well as at the test booths, there may be slight waiting times. If necessary, please inform your pick-up persons about possible waiting times.

What are the opening hours of the Test Center?

The corona test center in the public area (view map) is open almost 24 hours a day for testing arriving passengers.

Do I have to register for the test in advance?

No, registration in advance of arrival is not mandatory, but it does shorten waiting times on site. However, it is sufficient to go to the test center after arrival and register there.

What do I need to bring for the test?

Within the corona test center, as well as in the entire airport building, you are required to wear a mask (at least mouth-nose protection) and abide to the minimum distance regulation of 1.5 meters. Rules of conduct at the airport

Your name and address (home address and address of accommodation for the next 14 days, if different from home address), as well as a valid mobile phone number and e-mail address where you can be reached, are required. This information will be used to inform you of your test result in accordance with data protection law. You will also need a valid identification document (passport, ID card) and your current boarding pass.

If you have already registered online (registration), you will need your registration code, which was sent to you by e-mail or SMS after online registration.

Do I have to enter the test cabin alone or can I share a cabin with several travelers?

It is possible for underage children or travelers who require assistance to take an accompanying person into the cabin with them.

How does the test work?

The detection for SARS-CoV-2 runs via swabs from the throat. You will be asked to open your mouth.

It is helpful during testing to loosely stick out your tongue and say "Ahhh" as you would when inspecting the throat.

When and how will I receive the test result?

The test result is usually communicated within approx. 48 hours, depending on the test volume. The notification of results runs via a web-based solution. Those who cannot use the web-based application will receive a form to fill out, which will then be transferred to the digital system immediately on site.

If the test result is positive for SARS-CoV-2, the laboratory will inform the relevant health authority, which will then contact you by telephone to discuss the next steps in a timely manner. At the same time, you will receive notification of the positive result. Minimize your contacts immediately and quarantine yourself in a suitable place. Wait for the instructions of the responsible health authority or contact it yourself by phone.

You can continue your journey home, observing the distance and hygiene rules. You will be notified as soon as the test results are available from the laboratory. Usually, this takes approximately 48 hours.

What happens if I test positive?

After a positive SARS-CoV-2 result, the local health authority will be notified. The person tested positive must then go into domestic quarantine, even if there are no symptoms of illness. The local health authority is responsible for further details.

I have been waiting a very long time for my test result and cannot reach anyone at the contact details provided. Why is a service provider used at the airport?

Nuremberg Airport functions only as the location for the testing of passengers. The airport assists the authorities in providing premises and infrastructure.

The tests are performed by a private laboratory on behalf of the Free State of Bavaria and its health authorities. The laboratory is directly responsible for informing the tested passengers about the test result in a timely manner.
