Having been the residence of the dukes of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and the meeting ground of European aristocracy, Coburg has a wealth of famous art collections and castles of different centuries, first and foremost the 4 ducal castles Callenberg, Ehrenburg, Rosenau and Veste Coburg.
You can follow the foot steps of former celebrities like Queen Victoria, the reformer Martin Luther or the king of waltz Johann Strauss.
Pay a visit to the unique European Museum of Modern Glass or the biggest collection of dolls in Germany.
All year round there are cultural events, eg. the biggest Samba festival outside Brazil, and Coburg’s Christmas Market with regional handicraft performances, the international doll festival and the town festival in the medieval town of Sesslach.
For active holidays Coburg and the nearby Thuringian Forest offer nearly every possibility and afterwards the four spas are the right place for relaxing.
And don’t forget to taste Franconian wine, Bavarian beer and the local cuisine!
