Before you go
Nuremberg Airport offers assistance for people with reduced mobility and seriously visually impaired or blind passengers:
Assistance service
Assistance should normally be booked 36 hours before departure or arrival. This should be regarded as a forecast and will be continuously updated by the airline or handling agent. Short-term changes are possible and must be carried out by the contractor to the applicable quality standards at no extra charge.
The traveler can book assistance direct with the airport information service by phone or fax:
Tel. + 49 (0) 911 937 00
Fax + 49 (0) 911 937 1650
Assistance can also be booked by e-mail to relations@airport-nuernberg.de.
However, the traveler will normally book assistance via the airline or the travel agent of his choice.
After booking assistance and confirmation by the contractor (information from airport, airline or travel agent), the traveler is obliged to arrive at the airport two hours before the scheduled time of departure. This time lead is necessary to ensure timely departure.
Wheelchairs
Passengers wishing to take their own wheelchairs must notify the airline stating dimensions (height, width and weight).
Important: If you wish to take a battery-powered wheelchair, please inform the airline of the type of battery used and state this when booking your flight.
Gel and dry batteries may remain fitted in the wheelchair and require no special preparation for transportation. However, you must secure and disconnect the batteries and insulate the poles before check-in. Special packing criteria apply to wheelchairs powered by wet batteries for safety reasons. Please ask your airline in advance.
Assistance dogs
Dogs are welcome in the terminals, but must be kept on a lead.
If your dog is to accompany you on the trip, please contact your airline in advance to inquire about the applicable regulations. These may vary from airline to airline. Airlines are not allowed to refuse to take your dog. On the contrary, they are obliged to carry your assistance dog free of charge.
