Why a hub?

Why is it necessary to change aircraft in Nuremberg on the way to your holiday destination? This is a question you may perhaps ask before your departure.

A hub is often essential to ensure that a sufficient number of passengers can be obtained for a certain route. Such a varied choice of destinations direct from your airport would often not be possible without concentrating the flow of passengers in Nuremberg.

A simple example: In the winter (November to April), you can fly to Grand Canary and Tenerife daily from Monday to Friday from many German airports via the hub in Nuremberg. You can also reach more exotic destinations like Marsa Alam in Egypt or Funchal in Madeira thanks to the hub in Nuremberg!

A nonstop flight from your "home airport" would not be possible in most cases, but the hub in Nuremberg brings you to your desired destination "straight from home" without detours. This is because Nuremberg Airport’s geographical location in South Germany is more or less "on the way to the South".
